NEurodegeneration & Understanding of Risk Overlay in Neuroimaging (NEURON3)

NNI is studying how the brain responds and recovers from threats to its functioning, following injury and infections, such as COVID-19 and dengue. This will help neuroscientists better understand how such injuries and infections affect brain tissue over time and how they may influence our capacity for resilience or accelerate neurological decline.

Who is eligible?

Adults aged 21 years and above
Individuals with a history of COVID-19 infection and/or dengue infection (post-infection cohort)
Participants should be medically stable and able to provide informed consent

Do participants need to have symptoms?

Participants may have persistent neurological, cognitive, or functional symptoms following infection, for example, memory difficulties, concentration problems/"brain fog", balance or gait issues, but symptoms are not necessarily required as the study aims to characterise brain injury biomarkers across different neurological conditions and post-infection states.
However, individuals with such persistent neurological or cognitive symptoms following COVID-19 or dengue infection may be of particular interest to the study.

What does the study involve?

Participants may be asked to undergo some or all the following:

Clinical and demographic assessments
Cognitive and neuropsychological testing
Questionnaires
MRI brain imaging
Blood sample collection

NNI is conducting a study to detect early neurological problems amongst seniors in our community.

What do you need to do?
