Dementia, Parkinson's disease and many other neurological conditions currently have no cure. Our researchers are working hard to change that but they need your help to succeed.

By taking part in clinical trials and research projects, you can help us better understand the brain, improve treatments for disabling conditions and help your loved ones enjoy better brain health in the future.

Brain Research and Integrated Neurological Screen

NNI is conducting a study to detect early neurological problems amongst seniors in our community.

What do you need to do?

  • Online screening survey via FormSG only
  • Survey participants who are suspected to have early symptoms of neurological conditions may be contacted and invited to take part in further in-person research procedures or brain health interventions.

Who is eligible?

  • Aged 55 and above
  • Healthy volunteers who do not have any significant chronic neurological condition (eg Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, etc)

NeuroImmunological Longitudinal Singapore (NILONS) Study

NNI is conducting a study to understand more about immune diseases affecting the brain and help us to better diagnose and treat future patients.

What do you need to do?

  • Collection of blood, urine, saliva samples
  • Assessment of upper limb coordination and walking speed
  • One visit only (~45mins). Follow up visit – optional

Who is eligible?

  • Men and women aged ≥18 years old
  • No significant active medical conditions
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding

STEADFAST Study

NNI is conducting a study with Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and Changi General Hospital (CGH) to understand how vision and hearing loss affect dementia and physical frailty.

What do you need to do?

  • Yearly visits to NNI, Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), CGH
  • Eyesight test @ SERI
  • Hearing test @ CGH
  • Smell and physical mobility tests
  • Neurological and cognitive tests
  • Blood collection
  • MRI brain scan

Who is eligible?

  • Aged 50 and above
  • Cognitive complains (issues with memory, word-finding, way-finding etc.)
  • Hearing and/or vision loss (diagnosed by a healthcare professional)
