Morphine - Side Effects, Precautions, and Contraindications

What side effects can Morphine cause?

  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Drowsiness and impaired judgment and/or coordination
  • Constipation and dryness of the mouth

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, facial swelling
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Increased severity of side effects
  • Inadequate pain relief
    Do not adjust your dose without your doctor's permission and supervision

Before taking Morphine , what precautions must I follow?

  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you:
    • Plan to get or suspect that you are pregnant
    • Intend to breastfeed

What food or medicine must I avoid when I take Morphine ?

Alcohol, including alcohol-containing medicines.
