Dr Chew Chee Ping is a fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon practicing at Sengkang General Hospital. His expertise lies in shoulder and knee surgery.
He received his medical degree from National University of Singapore (NUS), School of Medicine in 2003 followed by a Master of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) from NUS in 2013. He was appointed as Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, in 2009 and subsequently as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK (Orthopaedics and Trauma) in 2014.
After completing his specialist training, he practiced at Singapore General Hospital before doing a 1-year clinical fellowship under the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, one of the largest teaching hospital in Europe.
There, he trained under the tutelage of Prof Markus Scheibel, in the field of shoulder surgery (open and arthroscopic) and Prof Carsten Perka in lower limb arthroplasty.
This was followed by an AO Trauma Fellowship with Prof Ralph Hertel in Bern,Switzerland, managing shoulder injuries and degenerative conditions
His practice interests are in shoulder and knee surgery, encompassing joint replacement, arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures as well as fracture fixation.
He has presented at conferences and has published in several peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals. He is also a reviewer for both local and international journals. He is a strong advocate for undergraduate medical education being heavily involved in medical student teaching as well as being an examiner for final MBBS exam. He is a clinical lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
