National Neuroscience Institute Staff Donor – Dr Jai Prashanth Rao

As a Neurosurgery Consultant, Dr Jai sees how healthy working adults can suffer a drastic change in life due to a serious accident causing Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He gives his absolute best to provide the best neurological treatment for his patients to set them on their road to recovery. However, the challenge starts after they are discharged which is a determining factor to whether they will get their lives back on track.

Dr Jai understands that months of medication and rehabilitation cause medical bills to mount up which prompts some to quit. Hence, he contributes to Staff Giving to help ease his patients’ financial burden and give them the best chance of reaching their goals. When his patient returns to his clinic years after the accident, full of confidence and with a job, he knows that his support made a real difference.​

National Neuroscience Institute Staff Donor – Dr Zhou Zhidong

As an Associate Clinician Scientist in the Translational Therapeutics Laboratory, Dr Zhou treats patients suffering from neurological conditions and does research to advance neuroscience understanding and treatments. He witness how conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease (PD) slowly rob patients of their independence, personality and quality of life. As there is no cure for PD currently, treatments can only manage the symptoms temporarily.

Although finding the cause and cure for PD is still a long way off, Dr Zhou and other researchers do not give up on seeking answers that will benefit future generations. Hence, he contributes to Staff Giving to support neuroscience research and it brings him happiness knowing that his support is helping to improve the lives of patients and their caregivers.
