Application and Eligibility

The NNI Fellowship will assist to obtain temporary medical registration from the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and Training Employment Pass (TEP) from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), after SMC’s approval is obtained. We would appreciate that you note that SMC and MOM are very strict with their guidelines. Please visit their websites for more information and check your eligibility before submitting your application.

NNI Fellowship will charge a processing fee of S$545 (inclusive of 9% GST) only after acceptance by NNI.

Vaccination status

Documentary proof of vaccination date records / serology report for the followings (as per Ministry of Health directive - self declaration of past illness or vaccination NOT accepted as evidence of immunity):

  • Varicella
  • TDAP (taken within 10 years)
  • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B immunity status or non-reactive status
  • Hepatitis C immunity status or non-reactive status
  • HIV non-reactive status
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (at least 2 plus 1 booster shot)
Eligibility
  • Qualifications / Medical Degree from accredited medical university (MBBS or equivalent and above)
  • Pass relevant national licensing examination in the country of conferment of basic degree
  • Evidence of at least 12 months housemanship/ internship with a certificate of satisfactory completion of housemanship
  • Must be registered with medical council, ministry or relevant licensing authority for practicing medicine in home country
  • Been certified to be of good standing by the medical council or the relevant national authority
  • Have active clinical practice 3 years of post-housemanship working experience OR postgraduate diploma or degreeMust be eligible for Singapore Medical Council (SMC) Temporary Medical registration and Visa from Ministry of Manpower, Singapore
  • Be sponsored by (i) the government, or (ii) regional health authority or (iii) an appropriate institution in the home country. For (iii), the doctor must be on current full-time employment (40 hours or more per week) with the sponsoring institution.
  • Good academic record and at least 2 letters of recommendation
  • Fulfil English language requirements of Singapore Medical Council (SMC) SMC | (F) Evidence of English Proficiency
  • The eligible criteria and requirements of individual departments

How to apply
  • Applicants are advised to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria as set out by NNI, Singapore medical Council (SMC) SMC | Temporary Registration (healthprofessionals.gov.sg) and MOM before they submit their applications
  • Applications must be submitted at least 9 months before targeted commencement date for Clinical Fellowships and Clinical Observership.
