Skull Base Surgery Programme

The Pituitary and Skull Base Surgery Tumour Programme at NNI provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with pituitary tumors, skull base tumors and related disorders. Our multidisciplinary team comprises highly trained Skull base surgeons, Neuro-anaesthetists and Intensivists, Neuroradiologists, Neuro-pathologists and experienced nursing staff.

Surgical treatments are accomplished using the most advanced technology and surgical techniques which include:

  • Microsurgical techniques coupled with intra-operative real time imaging
  • Brain mapping techniques
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery for small and irresectable tumours

Our facilities comprise:

  • Neurosurgical operating rooms equipped for intra-operative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to allow for microsurgical precision and image-guided stereotaxis
  • Specialised neurocritical care units with monitoring for postoperative care
  • Inpatient neurologic rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation facilities to assist in post-operative recovery

In addition, we have a comprehensive neuroendocrine and neuro-opthalmology clinic to treat pituitary tumours and manage the following conditions:

  • Pituitary adenomas
  • Hormonally active adenomas: Cushing's disease; Acromegaly; Prolactinomas; TSH-secreting
  • Endocrine-inactive (non-functioning)
  • Recurrent pituitary tumors
  • Pituitary apoplexy (hemorrhage and infarction)
  • Pituitary failure (hypopituitarism)
