Assoc Prof Nigel Tan Choon Kiat

Dr Nigel Tan is a Senior Consultant Neurologist at the National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore, with over 25 years of medical experience. He specialises in epilepsy, having completed advanced training under epilepsy expert Professor Samuel Berkovic in Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Tan is the Group Chief Education Officer, SingHealth and he is passionate about advancing patient care through research and education.

He has published in the fields of epilepsy and health professions education in medical journals and education journals such as Neurology, Epilepsia, Medical Education and Medical Teacher. His work reflects a strong commitment to both clinical excellence and health professions education, with significant contributions to neurological care and health professions education in Singapore and internationally.

He is recognised internationally for his expertise, serving on multiple committees of the International League Against Epilepsy. contributing to improved understanding and treatment of epilepsy and epilepsy genetic literacy.  He is also actively involved in health professions education for all health professions, both in Singapore and regionally, and has an interest in faculty development, interprofessional education, and assessment.
