Dr. Tay is from the Trauma Service of our Department. His areas of interest involve the management and rehabilitation of patients with fractures and orthopaedic injuries, with particular attention to periprosthetic fractures involving total hip and total knee prostheses.
Dr. Tay completed his medical degree at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2008. He underwent his training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Singhealth from 2012 – 2019. During the course of his training, he undertook an Australian Orthopaedic Association certified arthroplasty fellowship at Epworth Healthcare in Melbourne, participating in complex and revision surgeries, particularly that for periprosthetic fractures.
He is actively involved in the training of residents and medical students, including those from all 3 local medical schools in Singapore. He was awarded the Singhealth Outstanding Resident Award in 2018 and 2019 and the Singhealth Outstanding Faculty Award in 2019. He is also involved in administration work, being appointed as a member to the hospital Medical Board in 2019, and consultant in charge of the House Officers in the Department.
