Morphine is a medicine used for the relief of acute and chronic pain.

What side effects can Morphine cause?

  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Drowsiness and impaired judgment and/or coordination
  • Constipation and dryness of the mouth

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, facial swelling
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Increased severity of side effects
  • Inadequate pain relief
    Do not adjust your dose without your doctor's permission and supervision

    • Plan to get or suspect that you are pregnant
    • Intend to breastfeed

How should Morphine be used?

Morphine is available as a syrup or sustained-release tablet formulation.
Take the exact dose of syrup or tablets as instructed by your doctor.
Take with food if stomach upset occurs, but be consistent when taking with or without food.
Do not crush, chew or dissolve sustained-release tablets, swallow whole.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is too near the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing time. Do not double the dose.

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing time. Do not make up for the missed dose or double the dose.
