The NNI Neuroscience Research Laboratories, located on Level 6 of the Novena Wing, were fully commissioned and operational in November 2000. The establishment covers a floor area of 1500 sq m and accommodates 6 major research teams. On Level 2, the NNI has added laboratory space of 405 sqm, housing an additional 5 research teams.

Core Facilities

The Laboratories are equipped with core facilities to support and facilitate our neuroscientists in their research work. It includes a tissue and stem cell culture room, radioisotope workroom, dark room, cold room and other standard research facilities. Large common core equipment, such as ultracentrifuges, real-time PCR machine, HPLC, automated machines for DNA genotyping and sequencing, and a dHPLC are also available.

Core facilities also include an animal facility, co-managed by the NNI and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, serving researchers at both institutes. Besides a set-up for small animals, a Specific Pyrogen Free (SPF) facility is also available for housing knockout/in animals.
