| The pursuit and advancement of neuroscience research is a primary endeavour at the NNI. We aspire to be the leading neuroscience centre to complement Singapore's Biosciences initiative.
NNI's research aims to improve treatment and discover cures for neurological disease. Our research focuses on achieving better understanding of basic physiological and disease mechanisms, discovering and exploring new medical and surgical therapies, and improving health care provision and delivery.
Areas of Research
Presently, the NNI has developed strengths in these 3 key areas of neuroscience research:
Principles & Strengths
In our pursuit to exploit research opportunities, NNI looks to strategic collaborations with local and international research institutions with the intention of achieving critical mass and benefiting from multidisciplinary expertise.
The NNI actively subscribes to the nurturing of future neuroscientists. Our research programmes offer graduate and post-doctoral training in the fields of neuroscience.
Today, the NNI provides clinical services for the largest proportion of patients with neurological ailment in Singapore. This large patient throughput positions NNI as an ideal biomedical research hub to co-ordinate and support clinical trials and epidemiology studies.
With the close juxtaposition of our clinical services and basic research laboratories, NNI is also a favourable environment for the rapid translation of research findings into clinical practice.
Research Infrastructure
NNI has a purpose-built research facility. It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and supported by a team of research-focus personnel. The entire infrastructure is conceived to enable our research teams to pursue cutting-edge scientific explorations and investigations.
