One of the main roles of the NNI is in the training of neurosurgeons to meet our national needs, and the needs of countries around the region, for clinical and academic leadership in Neurosurgery. The NNI has a formal academic residency programme for neurosurgeons on a national level. As part of their training in neurosurgery, trainees are rotated to neurology, neuropathology and neuroradiology.
The NNI Neurosurgical Training Programme has been accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Joint Royal Colleges of Surgeons of the UK for the Intercollegiate Examinations. The training standards at the NNI are on par with that accredited training centres in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
